Description

A Rare Jewel for the Plant Collector The Hoya Polyneura Variegata is a breathtaking, hard-to-find variety of the beloved Fishtail Hoya. Originating from the Himalayas, this plant cascades beautifully, producing flat, meticulously arranged leaves along its trailing stems. What sets this variegated form apart is its jaw-dropping color palette—each distinctive "fishtail" leaf features prominent dark green veining contrasting brilliantly with creamy white, silver, or soft yellow margins.

Delicate Blooms & Exquisite Foliage While it is primarily grown for its architectural foliage, a happy Hoya Polyneura Variegata will reward you with clusters of delicate, star-shaped flowers. The blooms typically feature a pale cream to pinkish corolla with a deep burgundy or maroon center, emitting a very faint, sweet fragrance.

Why You’ll Love the Variegated Fishtail Hoya:

  • Architectural Beauty: The flat, cascading growth habit and distinct fishtail-shaped leaves create a geometric, cascading aesthetic unlike any other houseplant.

  • Striking Variegation: High-contrast cream and green colors make it a standout statement piece.

  • Cooler Climate Tolerant: Because of its Himalayan origins, it comfortably tolerates slightly cooler household temperatures than many tropical Hoyas.

  • Pet & Child Safe: 100% non-toxic, ensuring peace of mind for homes with furry friends.

Plant Care Guide

☀️ Light: Requires bright, indirect light to maintain its striking variegation. Avoid direct afternoon sunlight, which can scorch the delicate white sections of the leaves.

💧 Water: Crucial Note: Unlike Hoyas with thick, succulent leaves (like the Carnosa), the Polyneura has thinner leaves and requires more frequent watering. Water when the top 1 to 2 inches of soil feels dry. Do not let it dry out completely, but never leave it sitting in soggy soil.

🪴 Soil: Requires an extremely airy, well-draining epiphyte mix. A blend of high-quality potting soil, orchid bark, perlite, and a touch of horticultural charcoal is ideal.

🌡️ Environment: Thrives in standard household temperatures, but actually prefers it slightly cooler ($15^\circ\text{C}$ to $24^\circ\text{C}$ / 60°F to 75°F). It benefits greatly from moderate to high humidity (50-60%+).

✂️ Pro-Tip: This plant roots relatively easily from stem cuttings in sphagnum moss or perlite, making it a highly rewarding plant to propagate and share!

Shipping Policy

Successfully exporting live plants from Indonesia requires strict adherence to international agricultural laws. Our shipping process is designed to ensure legal compliance and the safe arrival of your plants.

1. Order Processing & Phytosanitary Certification

We do not hold plants in stagnant boxes. Your order processing begins the moment your purchase is confirmed.

  • Timeline: Processing takes 4 to 7 business days before dispatch.

  • The Process: We retrieve your plant from our local partner farm, unpot it, meticulously clean the roots, and transition it into sterile sphagnum moss.

  • Legal Export: The plant is then inspected by the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture. The required Phytosanitary Certificate is included completely free of charge with every international order.

2. Carriers & Transit Times

We ship exclusively via premium international couriers to minimize transit stress.

  • Carriers: DHL Express.

  • Estimated Transit: 4 to 8 business days worldwide, once the package leaves our facility.

  • Tracking: You will receive an automated email with tracking information the moment your box is scanned by the courier.

3. Packaging Methodology

To comply with international laws banning the import of foreign soil, all plants must be shipped bare-root.

  • Root Care: Wrapped in lightly moist, sterile sphagnum moss to maintain hydration without inducing rot.

  • Foliage Protection: Cushioned with breathable dacron/cotton to prevent physical damage.

  • Climate Control: Thermal insulation is used in all boxes. For orders shipping to cold climates, we monitor the destination weather and include heat packs free of charge.

4. Customs, Duties, and Import Permits

International buyers act as the legal importer of record.

  • Import Permits: You are strictly responsible for knowing your country's import regulations and securing any required permits prior to ordering (e.g., USA buyers require a USDA APHIS PPQ 587 permit for orders of 13 or more plants).

  • Customs Delays & Seizures: Tropical Aroid is not liable for packages delayed, confiscated, or destroyed by your local customs authority due to a lack of required import permits or unpaid duties.

  • Taxes: Any import taxes, VAT, or customs duties levied by your country are the sole responsibility of the buyer.

5. Transit Damages

While we pack rigorously, transit stress occurs. If your plant arrives critically damaged or Dead on Arrival (DOA), it is covered under our Live Arrival Guarantee (LAG). You must provide an unboxing video within 24 hours of delivery to claim a free replacement plant (buyer is responsible for the shipping cost of the replacement).
